Backyard Soaps & More is a family owned business that has experienced phenomenal growth over the past 5 years. We started making soap as a hobby when our friend Lara got married – we made red, strawberry scented heart soaps for her bridal shower in 2001 and they were a big hit! Soon we realized that people loved our products and wanted to purchase them, thus Backyard Soaps & More was born. In addition to handcrafted glycerin soap, we make bath products such as lotion, body wash, bubble bath, liquid hand soap, as well as some incredible treatment products – our famous sugar scrub, solid lotion bar, goat’s milk & honey body butter, foot fix, and more!
You might wonder about the history of our name – “Backyard Soaps” is a celebration of tradition and days gone by – many years ago - soap was made in the “backyard”. We’ve outgrown our backyard, our garages, and our first warehouse: in October 2004 we moved into a 2880 square foot space which is both our factory and our brand new retail store. The soap factory and shoppe is located at 331 Huron Avenue in historical downtown Port Huron, Michigan. You can smell our shoppe down the block before you see us!

Now you might be wondering who this adventurous crew is. First let us introduce you to the 4 family members who own Backyard Soaps & More:
Kelly – she started making soap as a hobby and soon found herself in need of more hands. Kelly manages the business side of things – supplies, banking, website maintenance, and makes soap when she can.
Kathy – Cousin to Kelly and Kerry. Kathy makes our very popular lotion bar, and our liquid hand soap enriched with jojoba beads. She also manages our school fundraising program.
Kay – Mother to Kelly and Kerry, aunt to Kathy. Kay makes the best sugar scrub in the world! She also is chef for the goat’s milk & honey body butter, foot fix, lotion, body wash, and bubble bath. She also keeps on top of label and catalog printing. We keep her very busy!
Kerry – Kay’s daughter and Kelly’s sister. Kerry works full-time making soap, shipping orders, and keeping on top of the inventory. She keeps the factory in tip-top shape. We’d be lost without her!
We also have several phenomenal Sales Representatives who have been instrumental in the growth of our business across the state and country.
